The haters will have to come to terms.
The scandal between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has already backfired for the famous actor. He lost the roles of Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Gellert Grindelwald (Fantastic Beasts 3), and was also rejected by most of the major Hollywood studios. But the workers’ troubles are still bypassing his ex-wife.
Although fans were opposed to Hurd continuing to play Meru in Aquaman, Warner Bros. she is in no hurry to fire her, and it seems that the matter is not in personal sympathies, but in the tough conditions of the contract. According to the ScreenRant portal, the studio cannot break the agreement with the actress until it is confirmed that she did something illegal. But US law is generally not very supportive of libel claims due to freedom of speech provisions, but in the UK it may be easier to prove someone has been slandered.
Depp lost the case against The Sun, publicly demonstrating that he did not clear his name, and therefore Warner Bros. I could not continue to cooperate with him, however, it was impossible to fire him, but removal from the role with solid compensation was the way out. But with Hurd, things are more complicated. The studio will not be able to break the contract with her until the actress is facing criminal charges, and in general she has not lost any lawsuits. But if Johnny wins the US lawsuit and proves that his ex-wife lied in her accusations, Warner Bros. will have to reconsider the decision.
Of course, fans are unlikely to be satisfied with the studio’s decision, but when it comes to big money and lawsuits, the viewer’s opinion fades into the background. So Hurd looks set to try the red-haired wig again for Aquaman 2, which is slated to premiere on December 15, 2022.
