Snoop Dogg is working on a TV series about the 1990s murder case in which he was a suspect. Fellow rapper 50 Cent is an executive producer on A Moment in Time: Murder Was the Case , which is being made for Starz.

The series is set in 1993, the year that Snoop Dogg, now 50, was accused of murdering a member of a rival gang.

The lawsuit took place during the release of Doggystyle , the rapper’s debut album. That successful record contains the song Murder Was the Case , in which he raps that he kills someone. The song’s violent lyrics were quoted several times during the trial. Snoop Dogg was eventually acquitted.

50 Cent called it an “incredible” story in a statement to US media. Snoop had the biggest album in the country and fought for his freedom in court at the same time.

Snoop Dogg is happy to tell. “This was a turning point in my life and career and I deliberately waited until I found the right partner to bring this to the screen.”

When the series will be shown and who will play in it has not yet been announced.
