IPhone X will be entitled to custom filters offered by the Snapchat application.
The iPhone X has a very big argument at its side: a facial recognition pushed through sensors housed in the upper notch of the screen. Sensors proposing a technology soon exploited by Snapchat. The application of ephemeral photos and videos has just unveiled three new filters offered only to users of the iPhone X – it will be necessary to own this smartphone at a high enough cost!
Filters based on TrueDepth
The technology developed by Apple and used by iPhone X, called TrueDepth, will therefore be used to apply these new filters via Face ID. A Face ID allowing the smartphone to offer the best facial recognition of the market as Animojis perfectly matching the expressions of a face. Thanks to the TrueDepth, the result on Snapchat is quite impressive with masks that we believe directly affixed to the skin. As a reminder, the suppliers of Android had talked about a two-year lead for facial recognition of the iPhone X. Perhaps it will take longer to see other manufacturers offer such a result. For these filters using Face ID, Snapchat also went through ARKit, a tool proposed by the Cupertino firm for augmented reality.
