But will there be this version?
Internet artist BossLogic has drawn and posted on Twitter a selection of posters for the director’s cut of Suicide Squad. After Justice League director Zach Snyder expressed disappointment with the final cut and after years of fan struggles, the director’s cut of Justice League will be released next year. Now fans and director David Eyre are fighting to release an expanded version of Suicide Squad.
Eyre has repeatedly stated that the Warner Brothers studio constantly interfered with the work on the film, so the version shown in cinemas is very different from what was intended. The film was originally conceived as darker and more philosophical, but, looking at the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, the studio demanded to add more humor during filming and remove the dark scenes.
The difference between the two projects is that Zack Snyder was forced to leave the director’s chair early due to family problems. And the film was completed by Joss Whedon, who was made to blame for the failure of the tape. Although the blame also lies with the studio management, which put pressure on the directors. Eyre directed the film from start to finish. And the release of his version will be equal to the admission of guilt of the studio leaders. And if the new version turns out to be more popular than the previous one, then not just guilt, but also unprofessionalism. For such a top management with high salaries cannot go. And only an ongoing campaign of fans for the release of the Eyre version can make the studio change its mind.
