Actress Naya Rivera is presumed dead after her four-year-old son was found alone in a boat on Lake Piru, California on Wednesday afternoon.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said they had started looking for an alleged drowning victim in the tank at around 1 p.m.
The Glee actress, 33, is said to have arrived at the lake and rented a pontoon boat, taking her son on board.
At around 4 p.m., the boat was found with the child inside, but the victim had disappeared and the car was still parked by the lake.

Rivera and his son are said to have swum in the lake, only the boy going back on the boat.
Authorities believe Rivera is “presumed drowned” and a search has been launched to find her body, according to Captain Eric Buschow, spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
A search and rescue diving team and a helicopter with a drone were both dispatched to the scene to assist in the search.
Buschow told reporters, “They were seen dating on the lake in the early afternoon, and about three hours after leaving the dock, another boater on the lake discovered that the boat was drifting with the [sound ] on board asleep.
“So they contacted the rangers and started an investigation and we have been actively looking for the mother since that time. We have both aerial research and our dive team.
“Everything suggests that we think she went into the lake. At this point, it’s still research and that’s what we know so far.
‘The [sound] said that she swam with her mother and got back into the boat and that her mother did not.
“We know that the girl was wearing a life jacket, another adult life jacket was found on the boat. It is a little difficult to interview a three year old child.
“We believe it went into the water and we couldn’t find it. This may well be a case of drowning.
“It’s a big tank, it’s deep, that kind of thing happens. We do not know all the circumstances. Investigators are working on it, obtaining as much information as possible.
