Actor Michael B. Jordan would be a serious candidate to take over the role of Superman from Henry Cavill. The British actor and studio Warner Bros end the collaboration after three films, reported The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday.
Several American sites suggest based on sources that Jordan, known from Rocky spinoff Creed and Black Panther, would be an important candidate to play Superman. The choice for a dark actor would fit in the “other direction” that Warner wants to take with the series.
Cavill played the role in three films: Man of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman (2016) and Justice League (2017). There were basically several films with the character on the schedule, but Warner would now want to focus more on the character Supergirl.
According to sources, Warner would certainly want to wait a few years before a new Superman actor is chosen and presented to the public. Cavill will soon be seen in the Netflix series The Witcher. However, it is not clear whether he said yes to this role after or before the fight with Warner.
It would be the second star in the DC Comic films that say goodbye. Previously, Ben Affleck also indicated that he did not want to play Batman again. Other DC films that will soon be released are the second Wonder Woman film, The Flash (with Ezra Miller) and Aquaman.
