The Amazon series of The Lord of the Rings will be available on September 2, 2022. From that date, a new episode will appear weekly on streaming service Prime, Amazon announced on Monday.
The shooting of the first season of the still untitled series was completed in New Zealand on Monday. No details have been released about the story yet. What is clear is that the events take place thousands of years before those of the books and films of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit .
The cast is partly made up of a group of local actors from New Zealand. The rest come from Australia, Sri Lanka, Great Britain and the United States. British comedian Lenny Henry and Peter Mullan, known from Ozark and Westworld, play a role, among others.
