Ellen Pompeo (52) would have signed again for a new season of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. The lead actress, who has often hinted at the end of the hospital series in recent months, has said yes to a nineteenth series, according to American media.
Ellen, who plays doctor Meredith Gray in the American series, indicated several times that she was not yet sure whether she wanted another season. Her departure would mean the end of Grey’s Anatomy because the makers do not want to continue without her. According to insiders, the actress was persuaded with a hefty salary increase.
The nineteenth season can be seen on ABC from the end of this year. It is unknown if there will be another series after that. Grey’s Anatomy is the longest-running hospital series ever. That record was previously held by ER (1994-2009), but that medical drama ‘only’ came to fifteen seasons.
