Disney joins Netflix and will drop all movie locations in the state of Georgia if the new, strict abortion law is implemented there.
On May 7, Brian Kemp, governor in Georgia, signed the “fetal heartbeat bill”: a new law that prohibits abortion as early as six weeks. That is before most women realize that they are pregnant. D
Disney CEO Bob Iger (68) confirmed that he wants to delete all recordings in the state if the law is actually implemented. “I think we employ a lot of staff who will no longer want to work there, and we must respect their wishes. For the time being we are still looking at it carefully. I just don’t see how we can go further in practice when the law comes. ” Disney filmed pieces from ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in Georgia.
Earlier, Netflix content manager Ted Sarandos declared war on recording studios in Georgia. The popular series ‘Stranger Things’ and a few other series were recorded there, for example, but Sarandos believes that no further recordings will take place if the law is implemented.
