More than 1.4 million copies of the book “Becoming” of the former First Lady, Michelle Obama, were sold in a week, making the launch of this book one of the greatest of the year.

On Wednesday, Crown Publishing told The Associated Press that total sales included all formats and all editions in the United States and Canada since the November 13 issue of the memoir.

The publisher reportedly printed 3 million copies for North America based on retailers’ demand.

The rate of sale of the new Obama book would exceed that of previous memoirs written by former ladies, including Hillary Clinton’s book, “Living History,” published in 2003 that sold about 600,000 copies during of the first week.

The book sold close to nine copies per second on the first day in North America, while in the UK, the memoir is almost at the top of the charts.
