Adele (33) and Ed Sheeran (31) have a great chance this year to take home an ‘Ivor’, the prize for the best British songwriters and composers. Named after British entertainer Ivor Novello, the ‘Ivor Novello Awards’ have been presented annually since 1955 by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters.
Ed Sheeran has been nominated three times. He has a chance to win the prize for Songwriter of the Year and Most Frequently Performed Song, where he competes for the prize with his hits Bad Habits and Shivers. Adele is also nominated for Songwriter of the Year and with her hit Easy On Me has a chance to win the prize for the best song of the year musically and lyrically.
In addition to Adele and Sheeran, Coldplay, Dave and Raye also have a chance to be named Songwriter of the Year. Producer Inflo has four nominations under his belt. He collaborated on the music of Little Simz, Cleo Sol and Sault, among others.
