Good news for all fans of ‘Gossip Girl’. The reboot of the popular series will be shown for the first time soon. HBO Max announced this this Wednesday.”There was little representation in the first series”
The shooting of Gossip Girl started in October last year and the first episode can be seen soon. HBO Max will put the first season of the reboot online in July. Due to the corona crisis, production was considerably delayed, because the series should have been finished last year.
The new Gossip Girl takes place eight years after the original and shows how teenage life in the American metropolis has changed over the past decade. Kristen Bell returns as the mysterious narrator, but otherwise much of the cast looks different. For example, Emily Alyn Lind gets one of the leading roles and Tavi Gevinson, Thomas Doherty, Adam Chanler-Berat and Zion Moreno can also be seen.
The reboot will be different from the original, writer Joshua Safran told Vulture Festival . “There was little representation in the first series,” he stated. “This time we have chosen that the protagonists are not all white. In addition, there will be a lot more queer content.” The teenagers’ school, Constance Billard, remains unchanged.
The original series ran from 2007 to 2012 and was about a group of wealthy teenagers at a private school in New York whose secrets were shared on the internet by the anonymous Gossip Girl . Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick will star.
