According to Whoopi Goldberg, preparations are underway for a third film in the Sister Act series. Previously there were rumors that a sequel of the well-known comedy films from the nineties would be coming, but the actress confirms on Wednesday in The Late Late Show that a new part will definitely be released.
“For a long time it was said that nobody was waiting for this. And recently it became clear that people now think differently about this,” says 64-year-old Goldberg. “So we are currently busy looking at how we can get everyone back together for a new movie.”
The actress describes the first two films as “entertaining and feel-good “. “Nobody is angry. You hear bad, great and ok singing. And there are some nuns. It couldn’t be better, right?”
It was already reported in 2018 that there may be a second sequel to Sister Act . At the time, there was talk of the film being released on Disney +.
Goldberg was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as Deloris in the 1992 Sister Act film. Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit was released in 1993 . Harvey Keitel and Maggie Smith were also featured in the movies.
The films were later adapted into a musical on Broadway and the West End, in which Goldberg also appeared.
