The singer-songwriter died of natural causes in his hometown of Houston, Texas, said his son, Johnny Nash.

He was 80 years old.

Nash’s career began in the 1950s covering standards, and by the mid-1960s he was co-director of a record company.

He was one of the first artists to bring Jamaican reggae to the American public and also helped launch the career of his good friend Bob Marley.
