On Sunday, celebrated actor Viola Davis added another accolade to her impressive list of awards by winning a Grammy for her audio recording of her memoir “Finding Me.”
This achievement solidifies her place as an EGOT winner, an exclusive club consisting of only 18 individuals who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony award.
Davis’s win marks her as the third Black woman to achieve this feat and she was overjoyed to celebrate this momentous occasion on stage. This Grammy win is a testament to her talent and dedication to her craft, and adds another chapter to her already remarkable career.

Actor Viola Davis proudly exclaimed “I got EGOT!” as she won the Grammy for Best Audio Book, Narration and Storytelling Recording.
Her impressive list of awards includes an Emmy for her role in “How To Get Away with Murder,” an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in “Fences,” and two Tony Awards for her performances in “Fences” and “King Hedley II.”
Upon accepting the Grammy, Davis expressed her disbelief and gratitude, stating, “Oh my God. I wrote this book to honor the six-year-old Viola, to honor her life, her joy, her trauma, her everything.”
Davis was the only female nominee in her category this year, competing against renowned names such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Questlove, Mel Brooks, and Jamie Foxx.
Other notable EGOT winners include Jennifer Hudson, Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, and Whoopi Goldberg.
