Tragedy Strikes Near Nicholas Senn High School as Two Teens Wounded and One Fatally Shot
In a harrowing incident on Wednesday afternoon in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood, two teenagers were left injured, and another lost their life in a shooting near Nicholas Senn High School. Law enforcement officials revealed during a press conference that the victims, all students at the high school, were walking when a vehicle approached, and an assailant opened fire.
Fire officials later confirmed that three teens were wounded in the incident, with two aged 16 and one under the age of 15. Although the identities of the victims have not been disclosed, authorities affirmed that all three attended Nicholas Senn High School.
Mayor Brandon Johnson expressed deep sorrow during a press conference, stating, “The City of Chicago continues to grieve, and our hearts are heavy as these tragic shootings happen way too often. This hurts, and I know our city is hurting.”

As of now, no suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing. While the motive remains unclear, officials believe that the three students were specifically targeted.
This unfortunate event comes just five days after two teenage boys were shot and killed in broad daylight in the Loop. Mayor Johnson emphasized the urgency of addressing the violence, stating, “The individuals who are responsible for this kind of violence β it has to end. The horror and chaos, and the trauma that’s being caused by these individuals who do not value life β the full force of government will be used to bring these individuals to justice.”
Curiously, the shooting incident occurred on the same day the Chicago City Council passed a cease-fire resolution, not related to the city’s violence but in connection to the Isreal-Hamas conflict in the Middle East. Despite the ongoing violence in Chicago, the city’s mayor cast the tie-breaking vote in favor of the resolution.
