“Tragic Collapse at Boise Airport Construction Site Leaves 12 Injured
Boise, Idaho – A harrowing incident unfolded on Wednesday evening as a hangar under construction near Boise Airport suffered a serious collapse, resulting in a dozen people sustaining injuries, according to Boise Fire Operations Chief Aaron Hummel.
Details regarding the conditions of the injured individuals remain undisclosed at this time, as officials focus on notifying and contacting their family members. Hummel refrained from confirming any fatalities but emphasized that the collapse occurred around 5 p.m. at a hangar where a rigid steel frame was being erected.
The collapse, described as a ‘large-scale’ event affecting the building’s framework, took place during a crane operation on the structure. Hummel stated, ‘I donβt know what caused it, but I can tell you it was a pretty global collapse.’
The injured parties, numbering 12, were in or around the building during the incident, while over 30 people were present at the construction site. Rescue efforts were complicated, requiring hoists to evacuate individuals from the collapsed structure.
As of Wednesday night, investigations into the cause of the collapse were underway, with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) sending an investigator to the scene. It was clarified by an airport spokesperson that while the structure was located on airport property, the construction project was being carried out by a private entity.”
