Tom Hanks is in talks with Disney to potentially fulfill the role of Gepetto in a live action remake of Pinocchio. Deadline reports based on sources that Hanks has approached director Robert Zemeckis about the possibility of starring in the film.
The sources report that negotiations are still at an early stage, but there is good hope that both parties will get out. Disney wanted to snare Hanks for the role years ago, when Paul King was still attached to the project as a director. The agreement was not concluded at the time. However, Hanks and Zemeckis have worked together before, on Forrest Gump and Cast Away , for example .
Pinocchio was first published by Disney in 1940 as an animated film. Currently an Italian live action remake of the story about a wooden doll that wants to become a real boy in the cinema.
Hanks was nominated for an Oscar earlier this year for his role in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood . Before the actor was recently hit by the corona virus, he was shooting a movie about the life of Elvis Presley, in which he fulfills the role of Colonel Tom Parker.
