Daisy Coleman, who appeared in the Netflix documentary ‘Audrie and Daisy’, died at the age of 23. In the heartbreaking documentary, two teenagers are assaulted by their so-called friends, humiliated online and made fun of in their environment.
“She was my best friend and a great daughter”
Daisy’s mom confirmed the news that her daughter took her own life to TMZ : “She was my best friend and a great daughter. I think she should make it seem like I could live without her. I can’t I wish I could have taken the pain away from her. “
Daisy was raped at a party in Missouri at the age of 14, but no one was ever held responsible for the incident. “She never recovered from what those boys did to her. It’s just not fair, my girl is gone.”
Daisy’s story became known worldwide when Netflix made a documentary about it in 2016 and Daisy and her family followed. The documentary shows how Daisy tries to ‘get something good’ from her past and establishes an organization to end sexual violence among students and to provide assistance to the victims.
Audrie Pott was assaulted by the same boys in 2012 and took her own life after going through the traumatic experience.
