Apple wants users to turn to everything connected and lock themselves into the ecosystem of the Cupertino company.

According to Blayne Curtis, an analyst at Barclays, Apple is preparing to reduce once again the number of accessories available with the iPhone. And for good reason: future models would see the end of Lightning adapters to 3.5mm jack. Bad news when you know that many are attached to it, handy for listening to music, and that reload iPhone 7 and higher listening to music is impossible. And it’s just one of those reasons that would cause Apple to stop providing the adapter: push users to switch wireless headphones – and why not AirPods?

Towards a connected whole wanted by Apple

The Cupertino company does not seem to hide it: everything connected is its goal with time. A goal to create a closed circuit and should be tightened with the abandonment of the Lightning adapter to jack. According to Barclays’ Blayne Curtis, based on reports from Ming Chi-Kuo of KGI Securities, Apple would abandon this accessory offered since the iPhone 7 – knowing that the Cupertino company has never been very generous level supplements in the box.

But the second point is that in addition to allowing users to switch to wireless, and if possible the Apple AirPods, the company would see its costs reduced. An adapter is charged 9 euros: a withdrawal on millions of models would be a real savings for the giant, still very much on the margins. No wonder Apple is number one in terms of revenue generated – while Samsung sells a lot more models.

As emphasized by many Internet users, builders in Android are used to offer a significant number of accessories for the convenience of the user. But no panic for Apple: this potential withdrawal should not curb its sales. Especially when you know that one of the iPhone 2018 could cost more than the iPhone X already displayed more than 1000 euros!
