Some details of the new show based on the novels of Neil Gaiman have become known.
According to We Got This Covered, Welshman Theron Edgerton has been cast in the upcoming Netflix project The Sandman, based on the iconic series of graphic novels by British writer Neil Gaiman (American Gods, Stardust). The long-awaited adaptation of the novel is already in production, directed by Gaiman himself. However, there have been no official announcements of the show’s cast so far.
Previously, Taron Edgerton has already played one of the characters in “The Sandman”: it was he who voiced John Constantine in the audio adaptation of the comic, which went on sale last summer. It would be logical to assume that Edgerton will get the same role in the series. However, the We Got This Covered columnist admits that Theron, as a star, will embody the central image – the immortal Lord of Dreams Morpheus. Earlier it was reported that British actor Tom Sturridge should play this role. The fact that Edgerton is involved in the work on the project is reported by Deadline.
Unfortunately, almost nothing is known more about the show, except that Gwendoline Christie was included in the cast (she, according to fans, may play Passion). It is also reported that the series will be based on the first two volumes of “The Sandman” – “Preludes and Nocturnes” and “A Doll’s House”. The show’s release date is still unknown, perhaps Netflix will reveal all the details when filming ends.
