A decision that follows the relative failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story …
Disney and Lucasfilm abandon the project of a spin-off dedicated to Boba Fett, according to information relayed Friday by Variety. The franchise “discreetly” abandoned the film project whose realization could have been entrusted to James Mangold ( Logan ).
Star Wars fans were eagerly awaiting this spin-off around Boba Fett, the bounty hunter hired by Darth Vader to hunt down Han Solo. This character, which appears only in The Empire Counter-Attack and The Return of the Jedi, is the object of a cult worship among fans.
A series in preparation
After Solo’s relative failure, Disney seems to want to slow down the pace of spin-off releases. Group CEO Bob Iger recently confirmed “a certain slowdown” in the output rate of the franchise’s films. Many films are however in the box as Star Wars episode IX , expected for December 2019.
The fans of the saga will be able to console themselves with the series in live action The Mandalorian, inspired by the universe Star Wars. The story will take place between Episodes VI and VII, before the emergence of the First Order. The highly anticipated program is expected to be released in 2019 or 2020, exclusively on Disney’s streaming site.
