After the Galaxy A8 earlier this year, Samsung has quietly formalized two new smartphones, the Galaxy A6 and A6 +. They borrow the Galaxy A8 18: 9 screen, but their design is reminiscent of the Galaxy J last year. Samsung would he scramble a little more its ranges?
Here are the Galaxy A6 and A6 +, two new smartphones at the edge of the entry and mid-range. Both devices have bastard features. They both benefit from a large screen of 5.6 and 6 inches (for the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 +), Super-Amoled type and definition HD + and Full HD +. Quality screens, therefore, whose design of the front panel is reminiscent of the Galaxy A8.
At the edge of entry and mid-range
Side shell, the Galaxy A6 are however closer to the Galaxy J5 of 2017 than Galaxy A8. And for good reason, this shell is not glass, but metal. The streaks of antennas are reminiscent of Samsung’s entry-level smartphone last year, as the micro-USB port, which brings it closer to the entry level.
Under the hood, Samsung has not put a lot of power into these new smartphones. The Galaxy A6 has indeed an Exynos 7870 and Galaxy A6 + a Snapdragon 450. Processors associated with 3 or 4 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of storage space, it is possible to expand using an SD card. Finally, there is a 3000 mAh battery for the Galaxy A6 and a 3500 mAh battery for the Galaxy A6 +.
An unknown tariff, but a device possibly competed by the Galaxy A8
Samsung says in its announcement that the Galaxy A6 will be launched “in some European territories” in the course of May. We do not yet know the prices of both devices. An important detail to fully understand Samsung’s strategy. To be competitive, these devices cannot exceed 300 euros, otherwise they will be directly competing with the A8 range. Launched at more than 400 euros at the beginning of the year, they are now easily around 350 euros on Amazon.
Finally, the arrival of this new smartphone poses a new question: what about the Galaxy J range? The latter has not yet been entitled to a 2018 version and it is assumed that it could be replaced by Galaxy A6. If that’s the case, it’s difficult to navigate through all these nested ranges.
