RuPaul, known for the RuPaul’s Drag Race travesty talent contest, will be given his own comedy series on Netflix.
The 57-year-old actor and singer will play the leading role in AJ and The Queen, Variety announces Friday.
RuPaul plays the role of Ruby Red, a drag queen who traverses all of America to perform in clubs. He does this together with AJ, an 11-year-old boy who has just become orphaned.
The two seem to be an unusual combination, but still appear to have a good influence on each other.
RuPaul will write the series together with Sex and the City maker Michael Patrick King. The first season will consist of ten episodes.
