The police of the American city of Detroit has confirmed that they are investigating a new allegation of sexual abuse of a minor by R. Kelly.
The singer would have had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl in 2001. Chief James Craig of Detroit police says he has been tipped by the Chicago police.
“We received information from the Chicago police about a victim accusing R. Kelly of sexual abuse in Detroit in 2001, when the victim was thirteen years old,” Craig said in a statement. “Based on this information we have made several attempts to find her, we have contacted the lawyer and would like to speak to her.”
According to The Blast another new victim reported. A woman claims not only to have been the victim of sexual contact, but also to witness the same offense of the singer with other girls who were younger at the time. The woman herself was of age at the time of the abuse.
Kelly’s lawyer has not commented on the new accusation. Kelly is suspected of having abused four people, including three minors, in the years 1998 through 2010. Before that he was released on bail, but he is currently in custody again due to a substantial maintenance debt.
