Brosnan would play the king in this new reboot of history, but it is unknown if he will sing.
Pierce Brosnan is the latest addition to the cast of Sony’s upcoming ‘Cinderella’ reboot: he will play the king.
The 66-year-old actor will star alongside Camila Cabello as the orphan in the musical comedy, with additional cast mates, such as Idina Menzel, who will play the evil stepmother, and Billy Porter as the fairy godmother.
British actor Nicholas Galitzine was recently elected as Prince Robert in the movie, and Pierce will play his father.
While it is currently unclear whether Pierce will sing or not in the film, it would not be the first time he shows his vocal talents, since he has sung in Mamma Mia! and its sequel Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!
Speaking previously about singing on the screen, Pierce told Sky News: “Singing is not necessarily my forte: I enjoy singing, I am not sure that other people enjoy my singing, but they have a good entertainment value of my singing.” .
Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon will write the script for the project and will also stand behind the camera to take over the film, after making her directorial debut with the 2018 comedy Blockers.
The musical, which will be filmed in London next year, will be released in February 2021.
