Paramount cancels seventh Transformers movie

Film studio Paramount has pulled the plug from the seventh film in the Transformers series. The film was scheduled for the spring of 2019, but was removed from the schedule by the studio.

Michael Bay directed five films from the series between 2007 and 2017, based on Hasbro’s toy line. The success of the franchise peaked at the third film, Dark Of The Moon, which generated more than a billion dollars worldwide. Also successor Age of Extinction did well at the box office, but The Last Knight from 2017 only managed to rake more than half of the proceeds of its predecessors.

Paramount continues with the sixth part of the series, spin-off Bumblebee. The film, with Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena in the lead roles, comes out in December and is a prequel to the rest of the franchise.
