OJ Simpson has opened its own Twitter channel. In his first videos he says that he wants to use it in addition to politics and sports to “put things right”.
“For years people have been able to say whatever they want about me,” says Simpson in his latest video that he posted online on Sunday. “Without being accountable.”
“Now I can fight a lot of that nonsense and straighten things out,” the former NFL player continues. “More importantly, I can talk about anything and everything, especially sports and fantasy football. Even politics. For now, I focus mainly on my fellow fathers and say: happy Father’s Day.”
Simpson became known as a player for the Buffalo Bills and actor in various films, but has been known since 1994 mainly for the court case against him. He is said to have murdered his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, but was acquitted of that in 1995. That trial has remained controversial, and Simpson has received criticism from various quarters.
Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison in 2008 for committing a robbery, kidnapping a sports memorabilia collector. In 2017 he was released early because of good behavior.
