Neve Campbell, who appeared in the four parts of Scream as Sidney Prescott, returns in the new version of the horror film that is being made. The actress says in a statement on Thursday, shared by Deadline , among others , that she is pleased to be able to play the role again.
It was previously known that David Arquette and Courteney Cox will also return in the reboot of the successful horror series, which revolves around a serial killer who strikes in an American town.
The cast is completed by Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct. Nothing is known about the story yet, the film should hit theaters in January 2022.
The movie is being produced by Spyglass Entertainment. The company was founded a year ago by, among others, the owners of Lantern Entertainment.
Spyglass Entertainment took over the rights to the Scream series after production company The Weinstein Company went bankrupt in 2018 following allegations against Harvey Weinstein.
