Netflix comes with a documentary about Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith, who died 15 years ago at the age of 39.
The documentary is being made by Ursula MacFarlane, who approaches Smith’s story as “an epic mystery.”
“How could someone with so much charisma and beauty, who had the world at her feet, fall so hard,” MacFarlane said in a statement to E! Online . “This feels like the right time to dive into the life of a beautiful young woman whose life was ultimately destroyed.”
Smith married 89-year-old oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall at the age of 26. He died fourteen months after the wedding ceremony, after which a years-long legal battle between Smith and the relatives of the oil tycoon started. In 2002, the model got her own reality series, The Anna Nicole Show , on E! She also had some minor roles in movies and series.
The battle for Marshall’s millions was still raging when Smith herself passed away in 2007, after accidentally taking too many drugs and sleeping pills. Her daughter Danniellyn was six months old at the time. Three days after the girl’s birth, Smith’s 20-year-old son had died during a maternity visit at the hospital.
