MOJO finds it annoying that Lady Gaga fans slept at Arnhem Central station on Tuesday night, a spokesperson said on Wednesday. The ‘AD’ reported that this happened last night, which a spokeswoman for the NS confirms to the ‘ANP’. Yet this incident is no reason not to give any or fewer concerts in the GelreDome, says the MOJO spokesperson.
“If people then choose to walk instead of taking the shuttle bus, we can’t help but miss the train”
Lady Gaga gave a concert in the GelreDome in Arnhem on Tuesday evening. After that, dozens of fans had to sleep at the station, because they could no longer go home by train. MOJO, the organizer behind the superstar’s concert, is “watching it,” the spokesman said. Problems also arose at the Elton John concert in the GelreDome, but then with parking at the concert hall. However, these are two different things, says the spokesman, and therefore no reason to avoid concerts at this location.
According to a spokesperson for the GelreDome, Lady Gaga’s concert started half an hour later: at 21:00 instead of 20:30. “That’s why the concert only ended around eleven o’clock. If you then have to catch a last train, it will of course be tight.” However, according to the spokesperson, the NS trains waited until the last shuttle bus from the GelreDome had arrived at the station. “If people then choose to walk instead of taking the shuttle bus, we can’t help but miss the train.”
The NS spokeswoman cannot confirm that NS trains were waiting for the last shuttle bus to arrive. “I do not know.” She emphasizes that it was not the responsibility of the NS, but of the organization.
According to the spokeswoman, the concert started later and there were difficulties with the shuttle buses, ‘which are organized by the organization. As a result, many people were late at the station.’ The NS has done ‘the utmost’, she says. “We even used an extra train that left at 1 a.m. to transport people who were left behind.” Because passengers were still left behind after that, the NS left the station open. “So that people at least had shelter.”
Numerous fans shared the problems they experienced on Twitter, for example through videos of people running for the last train. There were also complaints about parking at the concert hall, for example by this Twitter user: ‘Just help me remember to NEVER go to GelreDome again. What a cunt. Inaccessible, difficult to park, you have to buy a Wallet to get a drink, and you can’t get home with public transport.’
