France arrested two men planning a terrorist attack for the Christmas holidays
In France, two men who were planning a terrorist attack during the Christmas holidays were detained, BFMTV reports, citing sources close to the investigation.
“They planned to kill bystanders with knives in high-traffic areas,” a publication on the media website says.
Two 23-year-old men were taken into custody on November 29 in the Ile-de-France metropolitan area . On December 3, they were charged and taken into custody as part of a preliminary investigation by the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office.
The detainees are suspected of planning attacks in shopping malls, universities, crowded streets. One of them admitted this, the channel said.
Law enforcement agencies found electronic carriers with jihadist literature and texts promoting the Islamic State * in their homes.
