Actress Mandy Moore has come to know another side of herself. The actress and singer climbed the Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

  “There is nothing more powerful than realizing that we are capable of so much more than we think”, she writes on Instagram with a photo of herself at the top.

Moore’s trip to the mountaintop was tough. With her fiancĂ©, among others, she walked almost eight hours the last day and climbed to 5895 meters. “We trudged through rain, snow and sleet,” wrote the 33-year-old actress and singer. “Everything that could freeze froze: water bottles, backpacks, our eyelashes, hair, fingers, toes, and so on.”

Despite the harsh conditions, the This is us- actress felt “more determined than ever to take on such a physical challenge”. “And yet the exhaustion and extreme cold made it more difficult than we thought.”

Moore had dreamed of conquering the African mountain for years. Reaching the top for Mandy was therefore “more emotional and overwhelming than I thought possible”. “Kilimanjaro demands a lot from everyone who decides to climb it, you have no choice but to go, and we did that.”
