White House Faces Investigation as Cocaine Found Inside; President Biden Not Present During Discovery
The Secret Service has launched a thorough investigation into the White House after a white powder, causing a temporary evacuation on Sunday, was confirmed to be cocaine following preliminary tests.
Two officials with knowledge of the situation, as well as the dispatch from the DC fire crew that responded to the incident, have confirmed the identification of the substance as cocaine.
Additional testing is underway to determine the exact nature of the powder, while authorities are actively looking into how it entered the White House, according to Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the Secret Service. Guglielmi stated that the DC Fire Department has deemed the substance safe.
“The discovery triggered heightened security measures and a brief evacuation of the executive mansion,” Guglielmi explained.
Notably, President Biden was not present at the White House during the time of the discovery, according to his statement. Guglielmi emphasized that an investigation is underway to determine the cause and manner of the substance’s entry into the White House.
Regarding specific details of the substance’s location or packaging within the White House, Guglielmi declined to provide further information. However, he did disclose that members of the Secret Service’s Uniformed Division discovered it during routine rounds within the premises.
At 8:49 pm, a firefighter from the DC Fire Department’s hazardous materials team radioed the test results, stating, “We have a yellow bar saying cocaine hydrochloride.” Openmhz.com, a website providing access to live and archived radio transmissions, recorded the brief broadcast.
According to an anonymous representative involved in the investigation cited by The Washington Post, the 8:49 transmission originated from the White House call on Sunday night. The official mentioned that the substance found was minimal in quantity.
The DC Fire Department’s spokesperson, Vito Maggiolo, confirmed their assistance in the investigation, stating they “supported the US Secret Service as they conducted an investigation.”
It is important to note that recent controversy surrounding Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, who was filmed allegedly smoking crack while driving, has led to speculation regarding his potential involvement in the incident. However, no official connections have been established at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
