Kate Winslet provides the voice of Black Beauty in a film version of the famous book, Variety reports Wednesday. The film will be released later this year on streaming service Disney +.
There are also roles for Mackenzie Foy (Interstellar), Iain Glen ( Game of Thrones ) and Claire Forlani ( Meet Joe Black ).
Black Beauty is based on the 1877 eponymous book by British author Anna Sewell. The story revolves around the black horse Black Beauty and is told from the animal’s perspective.
The story was filmed several times. The 1994 feature film starring Sean Bean, in which actor Alan Cumming voiced the horse’s voice, is the best-known version.
It is not the first time that Winslet has given her voice to an animated film. She provided voices in Flushed Away and Christmas Carol: The Movie . The latter film also produced the hit What If sung by Winslet .
