John Legend (41) dedicated a song to his wife, Chrissy Teigen (34) during the presentation of the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday. The couple lost their unborn child at the end of last month.

“This one is for Chrissy”

Host Kelly Clarkson also reflected on that loss when she announced John’s performance. “He and Chrissy have found a way to let us into their lives, through the highs and the lows. We empathize with you in this very difficult time and I am glad that you will continue to share your talent with us for this special performance. Kelly said. Before John started the song Never Break, he said, “This one is for Chrissy.”

John and Chrissy announced in mid-August that they were expecting their third child. They are already parents of daughter Luna (4) and son Miles (2). In late September, Chrissy shared on social media that she had been hospitalized with pregnancy complications. A few days later, she shared a post in which she wrote that the little boy she and John had already called Jack had not made it.

The model is normally a fanatic twitterer, but has taken a break on social media. Her last tweet is from the day it went wrong. In it she wrote, “We’re driving home without a baby. How can this be true?”
