The couple learned of a moving story about a student who did not have food at home.
Jennifer Lopez and her fiance Alex Rodriguez have donated a year of food to schoolchildren in Tennessee after reading about a student’s struggle to pay for regular meals.
The superstar couple was inspired to act after a recent social media post by Jacksboro Elementary teacher Brooke Goins went viral.
In the Facebook message, Goins shared a heartbreaking story about a child who went to class hungry because his family had run out of food at home. Then she and her colleagues were trying their best to help.
The news caught the attention of Lopez and Rodriguez, and they have decided to lend a hand while maintaining the new food pantry for school students supplied for a full year through their new frozen, economical and healthy food company, Tiller & Hatch.
J.Lo even appeared in a video call to surprise Goins and his class with the news, and she shared images from the Instagram chat on Wednesday (October 23).
“When we heard about the students and the amazing teachers at Jacksboro Elementary in Tennessee, we knew we had to help,” Lopez wrote in the caption.
“We heard that teachers were helping students take food home when they didn’t have enough. When we saw this story, not only did my tears jump, but also Alex’s! “
“I don’t know if you know it, but Alex and I are co-owners of a company called Tiller & Hatch, and we decided to donate a year of their delicious and healthy meals to students and their school’s food pantry,” she continued.
“No child should NEVER have to go to sleep hungry. Everyone should have access to delicious and nutritious food, ”added the star.
