The American actress Jennifer Lawrence will fight against corruption and for democratic values – and not this time as a hero in an action film, but in the real world.

“I’m going to try to interest young people in local politics,” she says in the conversation with entertainment news channel ET. The 27-year-old actress will therefore not act in the coming year and will instead work for the non-governmental organization Represent.Us.

Lawrence is best known as Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games films. For her main role in the film Silver Linings Playbook from 2012, she won an Oscar and Golden Globe.

She is one of the highest paid Hollywood actresses. Only Emma Stone and Jennifer Aniston earned more last year. In 2016, Lawrence was in first place.

It is not the first time that Lawrence announces that he will temporarily stop acting. In September she said she had no plans for the next two years. She then joked to take a pottery course, but that was not the case.

Lawrence previously campaigned for equal rights for women and participated in the Women’s March, a protest against President Trump. In 2015, Lawrence was one of the first to denounce paying less female actresses against their male counterparts.
