Javicia Leslie confirmed on Instagram on Thursday that she is the new interpreter of the title role in the superhero series Batwoman . The 33-year-old actress is the first black woman to take on the role of the superheroine.
Leslie, known from the drama series The Family Business, will play an openly lesbian woman in Batwoman , who has a history as a drug courier. It is not yet known when the new series of the show will appear.
Leslie focuses on black girls in her confirmation of the coverage. “To all the black girls who dream of being a superhero one day: it’s possible!”.
