Jared Leto returns as the Joker in Zack Snyder’s Justice League , The Hollywood Reporter reports Wednesday.
It is not known whether Leto would be in the original version of Justice League (2016) or whether it is an addition to the new version. He is this week with the main cast at the extra recordings for the film.
Leto played the Joker in Suicide Squad , but his role was controversial. Studio Warner Bros. would have cut his contribution drastically, because early screenings would have reacted negatively to Leto’s acting. That happened to the dismay of Leto and Suicide Squad director David Ayer.
In recent years, Ayer has stated several times that Leto’s role in the first version of the film was many times greater. According to the director, the audience has never seen Leto’s version of the Joker as it was intended.
This was reshot because the tone was “too dark” – My first act was a normally constructed film. I took my inspiration from Nolan. There were real scenes with incredible acting between Jared and Margot. Joker was terrifying. Harley was complex. https://t.co/KeJHmI6EA7
