Jake Gyllenhaal plays the leading role in the thriller Welcome to Vienna, which he also produces himself.
This is a film version of the book To Die in Vienna by Kevin Wignall that will be released in June, reports Variety .
Gyllenhaal plays Vienna-based invigilator Freddie Makin, who follows Chinese scientist Jiang Cheng for a year. The story takes a turn when someone tries to break into Freddie’s apartment and tries to kill him.
In addition to playing the main role, Gyllenhaal will produce the film with his production company Nine Stories. This company previously produced the movie Stronger about the bomb attack during the Boston marathon in 2013, in which Gyllenhaal played one of the victims.
It is not yet known when Welcome to Vienna is expected in the cinemas.
