Streaming service HBO is working on a series about the origins of Elon Musk’s space company SpaceX, The Hollywood Reporter reports Monday. The six-episode project, called SpaceX , is based on Ashlee Vance ‘s book Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future .
Actor Channing Tatum and former HBO Films director Len Amato are among the executive producers.
Scriptwriter Doug Jung ( Star Trek Beyond , The Cloverfield Paradox ) will edit Vance’s book. He too is involved in the project as an executive producer. Musk himself is not involved in the project.
SpaceX follows Musk as he pursues his lifelong dream of taking people to other planets. To accomplish this, he employs a team of engineers on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean. There they build and launch the first SpaceX rocket.
The company’s first manned mission, the Falcon 9, was launched on May 30, 2020. And with success: the rocket managed to reach the International Space Station.
It is not yet known when the project will be released on HBO.
