Harvey Weinstein will be extradited to Los Angeles in early July to face 11 charges. The news was already reported at the end of April , but the extradition was delayed due to objections from Weinstein’s lawyer team.
Weinstein would not be able to make a long trip due to his deteriorating health, his lawyers said.
According to journalist Pilar Melendez of The Daily Beast , the New York judge rejected these objections. Weinstein, who was also present at the hearing, will be taken to Los Angeles in the first two weeks of July.
In California, the former film producer is charged in 11 cases with rape, assault and assault. If convicted for these crimes, his sentence could be up to 140 years in prison. Obviously he can’t sit this one out.
Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence near Buffalo, New York for rape and sexual abuse. Weinstein has so far denied all allegations.
