Halle Berry has retired as an interpreter of a transgender character in an unspecified film project, she reports on Twitter on Tuesday . The actress said on Friday to prepare for the role, but waives after she was criticized by LGBTI circles.
Berry apologizes and promises improvement in her considerations. “As a woman born as a woman and identifying as a woman, I now understand that I should not have considered this role. I now see that the transgender community must have the opportunity to tell its own stories.”
“I am grateful for the critical sounds of the past few days and will learn from my mistake. I promise to be a better role model both in front of and behind the camera,” said the actress.
On Friday, 53-year-old Berry announced that he was considering a role in an unspecified film project as “transgender character, a woman who has turned into a man. She is a character in a project that I may be doing”.
