George Floyd The woman’s daughter opens with the death of her father.
On Wednesday, Hello America aired a heartbreaking interview with 6-year-old Gianna Floyd , who comes just a week after his father died at the hands of the Minnesota Police Department.
When asked what she wanted people to know, Gianna said GMA it’s Eva Pilgrim , “I miss him.” She also shared what her father looked like, saying he was “playing with me”.
Indeed, her mother Roxie Washington , who sat in tears next to her during the interview, praised George’s love for her daughter.
“She didn’t have to play with anyone else because Dad was going to play with her all day,” said Roxie.
“It was her baby,” said Roxie GMA . “He loved his little girl.”
George was killed on May 25 after police officer Derek Chauvin nailed George to the ground with his knee on George’s neck. He has since been charged with third degree murder and second degree manslaughter.
Speaking of his death, which the Hennepin County medical examiner considered homicide, Roxie said, “I wish I could have been there to help him.”
Since her daughter is so young, Roxie shared that she did not fully explain to Gianna how her father died.
“She said,” I can hear them. I hear them say my father’s name, ” “said Roxie.” She doesn’t know what happened. I told him that his father died because he couldn’t breathe. “
