Felicity Huffman Returns to Television in “Criminal Minds: Evolution” Following Fraud Conviction
After a hiatus from the screen due to her involvement in a college admissions scandal, actress Felicity Huffman is set to make a comeback in the popular series “Criminal Minds: Evolution.” Best known for her role in “Desperate Housewives,” Huffman will take on the character of Jill Gideon, a skilled psychiatrist and former spouse of Jason Gideon, portrayed by Mandy Patinkin in previous seasons.
“Criminal Minds: Evolution” delves into the intricate workings of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, dedicated to unraveling crimes through psychological profiling. Huffman’s character, Jill Gideon, is brought in as a temporary addition to the team to assist in cracking a particularly challenging case.
The original “Criminal Minds” series aired from 2005 to 2019, with a recent revival. Patinkin, also recognized for his role in “Homeland,” led the Behavioral Analysis Unit for 47 episodes.
Huffman’s return to television marks her first major role since her involvement in a student fraud scandal in 2019. In a highly publicized case, Huffman admitted to paying for her daughter’s admission into a prestigious college, believing it was necessary for her child’s future prospects.
Despite facing a 14-day sentence, Huffman was only detained for 11 days. Her husband, William H. Macy, was acquitted of involvement in the scandal.
Fans of “Criminal Minds” and Huffman alike eagerly anticipate her return to the small screen in this compelling new role, marking a significant milestone in her career post-controversy.
