Ed Sheeran paid for a personal trainer for his parents when they became grandparents. He did this so they could get fit to babysit his child, the British singer tells the Australian radio show Carrie and Tommy .
“My parents never played sports,” said Sheeran, known for hits such as Shape of You and Perfect and who welcomed his first child Lyra with his wife Cherry Seaborn last year.
“During pregnancy I started working out with a personal trainer and they were interested because they barely got any exercise.” His parents participated with the personal trainer via a video connection, says the singer.
According to Sheeran, his parents benefit greatly from sports. “My father has no back problems and my mother can easily pick up Lyra. It’s great.”
Sports also worked out well for the Bad Habits singer. “I always thought exercise was a terrible thing and I usually dreaded it.” But since he started working with his own trainer, he feels better than ever. “Not only physically, but also mentally I feel a lot better.”
