There is a remake of 9 to 5 coming up. The 1980 film, with Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as the main characters, was a great success at the time.

“It has only recently become clear that it is really going on”, says Parton in an interview with ABC News .

“We are very busy with the script and all other actors are all very interested, and if it feels right, we will do it”, said the actress and singer, who had a big hit with the eponymous title song of the film.

Writer and actress Rashida Jones was approached to write the script, together with the original writer Pat Resnick. Although film studio 20th Century Fox says it does not want to make any announcements about the remake, Resnick confirmed today that she indeed works with Jones on the script.

9 to 5 is about the three women Judy, Violet and Doralee, who try to make a career during the eighties. If they are thwarted by their boss, they invent all sorts of ways to sabotage him.

The film’s remake would be about three young women who ask for help while setting up their own company Judy, Violet and Doralee.
