Disney is in the early stages of producing a new Inspector Gadget movie. The media company works together with Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, the producers of the film Aladdin , reports Variety.
Disney has hired Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, both writers for the satirical program Saturday Night Live , to take care of the script.
Lin produced during an earlier employment with Warner Bros. the films It , Sherlock Holmes and Lego .
Inspector Gadget made her debut as an animated series in 1983. The title character takes on every episode with the help of his niece Penny and a large arsenal of gadgets against his arch enemy Dr. Claw. In 1999, Disney followed with a film in which Matthew Broderick played the lead role. That role was taken over by French Stewart in the follow-up from 2003.
