One year after his death, it was revealed that the heart of Diego Armando Maradona is still being preserved in the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Buenos Aires Police in the city of La Plata, Argentina.
According to the TycSports newspaper, the revelation that caused an impact was made by journalist Nelson Castro, author of “Diego’s health: the true story,” who said that the deceased soccer player was buried without his heart, in the middle of the autopsies to determine the causes of death. The same thing happened with the liver and kidneys.
According to the publication, the Justice decided that the organs remain in La Plata for their study and conservation:
“The idea is that they are in formaldehyde for the next ten years.”
Maradona died of a heart attack at his home in Buenos Aires, at age 60, on November 25, 2020.
